Did you know that Present Tense or Present Simple Tense is not about NOW or the CURRENT? There is another tense for that.
The Present Simple Tense has 2 major functions:
A. To Express Facts.
B. To Express Habitual or Repeated Actions.Examples of Facts:
1. Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain.
2. Prince George is the son of Prince William.
3. I love ice cream!
4. Henry works as an Engineer for General Motors.
Examples of Habitual Actions:
1. Kate goes on vacation every August.
2. She always buy her groceries on Thursdays.
3. Father comes home only every week.
4. I watch TV every night.
It is important always to add a time expression (like everyday, daily, monthly, annually) to habitual actions to establish consistency of the actions.
